Classes I Teach

Immersion Weaving

Immersion Weaving

Spend three days immersing yourself in the basics of weaving: winding a warp, dressing the loom, reading a draft, planning a project. Then you'll be ready to continue your weaving adventure independently. Designed for beginner level but advanced beginners will not be bored. The focus of this class is to learn the process rather than to produce a product, though you'll weave mug rugs and book marks in class. If you work on your own loom you'll have a project on it to finish at home. Class fee of $200 includes yarns for mug rugs. Loom rental available.

Gourmet Weaving: Beyond the Recipe

Published weaving projects are a fine beginning, but there is more to weaving than following a recipe. Expand your knowledge of drafting and design, and learn to combine ingredients in new ways. Take charge of every aspect of your weaving to give it your own flavor. Whip up a design for a table runner or scarf. Students should be able to dress a floor loom independently and know how to read a draft prior to class.

Coloring Outside the Lines

Coloring Outside the Lines

Color theory rules were developed for blending dyes, paints, and light, but not threads. Let's side-step those rules and learn a more playful approach to using color. Explore ways to achieve pleasing color blends of yarns for weaving, knitting, crochet, any fiber arts. Working with a color wheel, learn to differentiate between warm and cool shades. Plan your project using colored pencils, thread wrappings, small interlacements.

Warped & Twisted Scarf

Warped & Twisted Scarf

Want to get a taste of what weaving is like? Want to learn a new weave structure? Want to amaze your friends with what you can do? This class introduces you to weaving with no previous experience needed. If you can thread a needle and count to four you can weave this pair of fun scarves.

The yarns used in class are hand-dyed alpaca/soy blend. The weave structure is a lacy leno variation that is little understood but easy to weave. Contact Ramona@rapweaver.com for more information and to register.

8 hours class time.
